Grid Theory

Grid Theory is a concept based on the rule of PHI. The ration, 1:1.62, is a classic measurement - possibly based on Da Vinci's research, and implementation in the vitruvian man. It's a good tool to use when chunking information, aligning scroll bars, and placing white space. Many online sites are following the very popular center column design, seen here. Creating segments of frames in 3rds or 5ths follows the Golden Ratio, and it results in a very aesthetically pleasing site. Check out more about the ratio in web design here.
