I enjoy the feel of this design. The different sections have the actual objects as the container such as a screen for the videos and what not. I also like the main menu bar, it's easy to read although you may want to think about making the buttons look more like buttons for the users-sake.
Looks good so far. The only thing I could think of is for your sub-area. The color of the active link in the navigation bar might be a little bright. But maybe that was just the projecter.
I would recommend not including some of the features on the current daily news site.
I hate the scroll box in the right column with the most emailed and viewed stories. Whenever I try to click on a story, the site will cycle to the next tab and I can't click on what I want.
The theme is simple and consistent. I think that having two "DN's" on the sub page was unnecessary. I've seen that font before used with the DN - is that a font that they standardized? I'm not a big fan of it; it's a little too casual.
Page looks good but there might be to much going on with the slide show, video, and graphics. I like the layout. If you do keep the graphics maybe make it a little bigger.

I liked the organization and different letters. The line next to DN and Interactive looks like an L. The story boxes on features page looks a bit big.

It was a good use of space. I like the almost black and white feel it has about it.

I like the layout. Looks nice and not cluttered.
