Very nice columned structure

Hello,
this site for the international record label, Ninjatune, does a very nice job of communicating a lot of information in a very clutter free space. It uses 3 columns, each being chunked and easy to differentiate. I also like the color scheme and font choice - it's modern, a tad tech-like, but conveys the feeling of the site and the music represented. I also like the menu bar - it stays constant over most information on site. The label also owns sub labels, and their information is also easy to navigate to.
There is a small flash music player on the main page, but I wish that it would play the music throughout the sites navigation, instead of cutting out once a link is clicked.
The page turning on the 3 main columns is also a great idea - so the user doesn't have to leave the homepage at every click.

Busy, but nice aesthetic

NOTCOT is a design conscious website that reviews international works. The site is pretty slim, with nice title bars and very easy navigation. I enjoy the module style, which makes updating info very easy.

Nutrition

This site I believe is a well done site. There might be some problems here and there but over all it was pretty easy to use and get around. It also seems as if it would be easy for someone to update.

Kotaku's Vertical Weirdness

The following is a link to a Kotaku page, with a lamp designed by yours truly:

Notice the generally weird design, with alot of unnecessary vertical scrolling and content arranged on a helter-skelter basis. It just seems to me like they could have organized it a bit better, chunked the menus, categorized the news bits, or something.

Need a site built?

Running around Google I ran into a website about Web Design. After seeing a number of "Professional" web development sites I decided to give it a go just to see if it was as bad as the others. This one is actually rather well laid out, easy to navigate and all around well done.

I probably have more goodwill towards this site than any other. I won't lie that I am horrible in Spanish and use online translators a lot. This one is the best in my opinion. What sets it apart are the dropdown menus for adding accents. I don't know the hotkeys and that usability feature is very helpful. Also, it doesn't translate word for word like most other sites. It will reorganize the grammar so the translation actually makes sense.

UAW

Hearing about the recent strikes at GM I was curious to see what the UAW website was like.
Good things: Search Bar, tabs across the top, news releases easy to find
Bad things: no bread crumb trail, right side of screen images look like ads but they are links for the site

Bad Design from Indiana's News Leader

For the past few years, WTHR has branded themselves as Indiana's news leader. While that may be true for their programming, when visiting their website for information, it is near impossible to find anything that you are looking for. The navigation on their site is confusing, and with all the ads and graphics, I always leave their site feeling frustrated.

easy navigation

I was looking for a new television and I found this website pretty easy to navigate. Bestbuy

Badwill

I remembering working on a research project on the Daily Show and going to the Web site to try to find information. It was frustrating because the Daily Show's web site had no contact information, and I had to look around for half an hour to see if there was a way I could purchase or freely obtain Daily Show episodes for academic research purposes. Because the site does not provide a contact phone number, you have to send a message, which was never answered and finally after searching I found a FAQ that said they don't sell episodes of the Daily Show.
Upon return, the site seems a little better, the FAQ isn't too hard to find and the Comedy Central store has a phone number listed. But, for someone going there hoping to buy a season of a show, he or she will be sad when try to search the Web site for information.
In general, the hiding of contact information and refusal to sell even entire season of the Daily Show diminished my goodwill for this site.

Chapter 10 talked about what increases good will and that included not hiding information and telling people what they want.

This website I have been going to has all that.

This site deals with a British TV show, Dr. Who, and the site talks not only about the episodes but behind the scenes information behind the scenes of each episode and stuff fans want to know about.

simple movie news site

Here's a site I go to pretty much every day. www.joblo.com is movie news site. It has a pretty simple layout. The main story is located in the center column, while other articles are located in the left column. The center and left column are pretty much the only places I need to navigate, so I'd say that this site has pretty good navigation.

Looking for a show in the ATL?

This is a site that I used constantly when I lived in Atlanta. Constant updates and simple navigation. Only beef is their show directory can be somewhat confusing.

Be careful buying stuff online

Here is a site that I have used quite a bit, but it has changed since I used it last. Its a little weird because there is 3 ways to start searching through categories from the main page and you can also go to the categories page if you want to be real specific. The navigation is consistent and it is easy to search for what you want. The main page looks a bit jumbled though.
